Student killed as truck rams into school
November 30th, 2011 - 10:34 pm ICT by IANSNashik, Nov 30 (IANS) An 11-year-old boy was killed and 39 other students were injured when a speeding truck rammed into a primary school building in Maharashtra’s Nashik district Wednesday, police said. The driver is absconding.
Angry residents burnt vehicles and blocked traffic after the incident.
Gaware, a Class 6 student, was killed in the incident at Dhamangaon on Sinnar-Ghoti Road, some 30 km from the district headquarters at Nashik.
“Over 18 children are said to be critical in a hospital here,” a police official said.
“The truck driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed it into the school building which was only 50 feet away from the highway,” an official from Ghoti police station told IANS.
