Student-couple held guilty of killing girl’s ex-boyfriend

Pune, June 11 (IANS) A city court Wednesday held a management student-couple guilty of murdering the girl’s former boyfriend. The district sessions court held Aditi Basu Deo Sharma, 25, and her boyfriend Praveen Premswaroop Khandelwal, 25, both students of a management institute here, guilty of poisoning the girl’s former boyfriend Udit Ashwin Kumar Bharti April 22 last year.

According to the police, all three were residents of Jammu and had come to Pune to study after their graduation. Udit and Aditi became close to each but their relationship did not last long.

Later, Aditi started having an affair with Praveen that was resented by Udit. According to the police, Udit continued to pester her with calls. Aditi conspired with her new boyfriend to poison him.

Both Aditi and Praveen confessed to having murdered Udit by mixing poison in prasad (offering to the gods).

The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment Thursday.
