Student commits suicide over love affair
December 17th, 2011 - 10:11 pm ICT by IANSGhaziabad, Dec 17 (IANS) A first year MCA student, in his early 20s, consumed poison in his home here after his relationship with a woman studying in the same college was opposed to by her parents, police said Saturday.
Mohit Sharma killed himself Friday night at his home in Turab Nagar locality.
Police said he was in a relationship with a fellow student, and they got married secretly in November.
However, the woman’s parents came to know of the affair and forcibly took her away to their native town Kanpur, and disallowed her from having any contact with Mohit.
Depressed over the episode, Mohit consumed poison at home, and then told his parents about the case.
They rushed him to hospital, where he breathed his last.
“We have seized the body and sent it to the mortuary. But a case has yet to be registered on the complaint of Mohit’s parents,” Superintendent of Police (city) J.K. Shahi said.
