Student beaten to death over love affair
July 17th, 2010 - 10:07 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, July 17 (IANS) A 17-year-old student in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district was allegedly beaten to death by the family of a girl with whom he had a love affair, police said Saturday.
Mukesh Rajbhar, studying in Class 12, was beaten to death late Friday in Jindwal village, some 300 km from here.
“Mukesh had an affair with a girl in his neighbourhood. Preliminary investigations suggest the girl’s family were against the love affair and therefore killed Mukesh,” Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Rana told reporters in Azamgarh.
According to police, the girl’s family invited Rajbhar to their house Friday night and assaulted him with wooden sticks.
A criminal case has been registered against four members of the girl’s family. The four accused are absconding, the official added.
