Strong undersea quake occurs off Taiwan coast

Beijing, July 13 (Xinhua) An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale occurred undersea off the coast of Taiwan Sunday, the China Earthquake Networks Centre reported. The quake occurred at 10.58 p.m. The epicentre was located at 21.1 degrees north latitude and 120.8 degrees east longitude, some 177 km south of Taiwan’s Kaohsiung city.

A 5.2-magnitude quake occurred in the same sea area Saturday at 5.35 a.m., according to the centre.
