Stampede in ashram, 15 feared dead (Lead)
March 4th, 2010 - 3:36 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, March 4 (IANS) At least 15 people could have been killed in a stampede in an ashram in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district, an official spokesperson here said Thursday.
The tragedy at the Radha Saomi ashram in Mangarh area of Kunda town, about 180 km from here, took place when a free lunch, or a bhandara, hosted by Kripaluji Maharaj was taking place.
The spokesperson said the stampede broke out when a temporary shed caved in. There were also reports that a gate leading to the ashram collapsed.
