Stalin may face action for defaming Jayalalithaa: Minister
December 4th, 2011 - 7:19 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Dec 4 (IANS) A Tamil Nadu minister said Sunday that DMK treasurer and former deputy chief minister M.K. Stalin could be prosecuted for levelling false land grab charges against Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
In a statement issued here, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, Law, Courts and Prisons M. Paranjothi said: “The allegations of M.K. Stalin are nothing but meaningless fulminations to divert the attention of the people from the land grab charges levelled against him.”
He said as Stalin made “…false allegations without an iota of truth and substance, he is liable to be prosecuted for defaming my leader and such action will follow in due course”.
Following the registration of a first information report (FIR) by police against Stalin, his son Udayanidhi Stalin and four others Dec 1 on charges of land grab, the DMK leader made a representation to police alleging that Jayalalithaa had also grabbed land in Kodanad in Nilgiri district and Siruthavur near here.
Refuting Stalin’s allegations against Jayalaltihaa, Paranjothi said that the DMK leader “…has indulged in mudslinging by saying that our leader has grabbed land in Kodanad including the public pathway used by the public. The representation of M.K. Stalin is a total mis-statement of facts”.
