Spurned lover kills young woman

Erode (Tamil Nadu), July 19 (IANS) A 20-year-old man was arrested here Saturday for allegedly stabbing to death a young engineering student after she rebuffed his advances, the police said. S. Praveena, 19, turned down the suggestion of K. Venkatachalapathy, 20, that they elope. Both were residents of textile town Tirupur, 350 km southwest of state capital Chennai.

After being spurned, he allegedly stabbed Praveena repeatedly, leading to her death, a police official said.

Neighbours caught him and handed him over to the authorities.

Venkatachalapathy had made repeated attempts to win the young woman’s love earlier too, but in vain, the police said.
