Sporadic post-Eid prayer clashes in Kashmir
August 31st, 2011 - 3:23 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, Aug 31 (IANS) After the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers ended peacefully throughout the Kashmir Valley Wednesday, some stone-pelting protesters clashed with security forces in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Many protesters clashed with security forces in parts of Old City Srinagar, and north Kashmir’s Sopore and Anantnag towns.
“Police exercised maximum restraint in dispersing stone-pelting youth in Old City. The situation is now normal,” a police officer here said.
However, some reports suggested that a woman and a policeman were injured in the Safa Kadal area of the city during the clashes.
