Speeding mini-truck mows down schoolgirl in Delhi
December 15th, 2009 - 11:37 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) A speeding mini-truck Tuesday mowed down an 11-year-old schoolgirl and injured her cousin while they were on their way to school in east Delhi.
The police said Manju, a Class 7 student, was going with her cousin Mohini to their school Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya when they were hit by the mini-truck in Gokulpuri around 8.30 a.m.
Manju died on the spot while Mohini, 12, is battling for life in Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital.
The truck was being driven by the assistant to its usual driver. The assistant has been arrested, police said.
