Speeding car mows down two in Mumbai, driver nabbed (Lead)
November 2nd, 2008 - 8:29 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Nov 2 (IANS) A speeding vehicle mowed down two people, and seriously injured three others here Sunday morning, the police said.The accident took place when the driver of the vehicle, a Hyundai Accent, lost control and climbed on the road divider, and from there crashed into a queue of people who were awaiting their turn at a mobile public toilet.
The accident took place on Link Road in Borivli, a northwestern suburb of Mumbai, the official MHB Nagar police station said.
The names of the two victims are Premshankar Shivram Mishra,35, and Sanjeev Kappar, 25.
The three injured have been admitted to Bhagwati Hospital for treatment.
The police have arrested the driver of the vehicle, Pranav Narendra Bhatt, on charges of rash and negligent driving. He will be presented before the court Monday morning.
