Twelve special benches were constituted exclusively at the Saket Court Complex and any consumer having disputes could walk in to get them resolved.
“A total of 1,100-odd cases were taken up in the special electricity Lok Adalat out of which approximately 1,040 cases were settled and settlement amount was approximately Rs.3 crore,” said a DLSA spokesperson.
Besides, a regular second Saturday Lok Adalat was also conducted. Forty-three benches were constituted for the Lok Adalat, organized in six district court complexes, DLSA said in a statement.
More than 3,553 cases relating to cheque bouncing, civil, labour, criminal compoundable offences and recovery matters pending at various city courts were taken up.
A total of 3,021 cases pending in various courts were disposed of, out of which 74 cases pertaining to motor accident claims were also decided in which a total amount of Rs.1.12 crore was awarded as compensation.
“The Lok Adalat has once again proven itself to be a beneficial alternate dispute resolution mechanism, giving relief to consumers and the public in terms of time and money, while simultaneously addressing the need to reduce dependency and accumulation of litigious matters in the courts,” said DLSA.
The authority said that the 12 benches will be also sitting Sunday for electricity cases of BSES Rajdhani Power Limited at the Saket courts. “Any consumer having disputes can come to get their matters resolved,” said the DLSA spokesperson.
