Special buses from Karnataka to Puttaparthi
April 24th, 2011 - 5:00 pm ICT by IANSBangalore, April 24 (IANS) The Karnataka government will run special buses from here and other parts of the state to Puttaparthi to help Sathya Sai Baba’s followers pay their last respects, Transport Minister R. Ashoka said Sunday.
“We have made arrangements to run special buses as there arre a large number of devotees in the state,” Ashoka told reporters here, condoling the death of Sai Baba at Puttaparthi, 150 km from Bangalore, Sunday morning.
He said it was difficult to estimate how many buses would be run.
“We are ready to run as many as required, both from Bangalore and other places in the state,” he said.
Expressing his grief over Sai Baba’s death, Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa hailed the drinking water schemes launched by the Baba.
Former prime minister and Janata Dal-Secular president H.D. Deve Gowda also condoled Sai Baba’s passing away.
