- Greater Noida, Nov 8 (IANS) Angered over his father’s refusal to hand over his entire property to him, a man shot him twice and when that did not prove fatal, poured kerosene over him and burnt him alive in a village here Saturday, police said Sunday.
According to police, Mangat Kumar, 80, of Kiswana village under Dankore area of Greater Noida, had transferred his agricultural land in the village to his three sons equally some time back.
However, his eldest son, Ramesh, 35, opposed the decision and wanted the entire land to be made over to him.
Enraged over his father’s refusal, Ramesh Saturday morning shot his father twice with a country-made revolver, injuring him critically. Ramesh then took him to his field on the outskirts of the village, where he poured kerosene on him and set him on fire.
As local residents rushed to the spot to save Mangat Kumar, Ramesh fled.
Police were yet to arrest Ramesh, who is absconding.
“He has committed a grave offence. Our team is making efforts to nab him. He will not be spared,” Superintendent of Police, Greater Noida, Surendra Verma said.
