Gandhinagar, June 28 (IANS) The Somnath Trust Monday decided to prepare a comprehensive temple-township plan for the temple complex and its surrounding region.
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani proposed and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi seconded the resolution at the 107th meeting of the trust held at Ahmedabad with former chief minister Keshubhai Petel in the chair.
The meeting extended the term of Patel as the president of the trust and inducted Modi and Pravinbhai Laheri, a former state chief secretary, as trustees.
Modi said there is a steady rise in the number of pilgrims to Somnath and there was a need to develop the entire region.
He suggested development of a pilgrims’ centre at Ratnakar facing the Arabian Sea, water sports in Hiran river and other measures.
