Kolkata, Jan 18 (IANS) West Bengal’s Left Front constituent, the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) feels that the stand of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on some issues is identical to that of the Left parties.
“The stand taken by her (Mamata Banerjee) on some cases and issues is similar to that of Left parties. However, it has to be seen whether her party has developed a class character in real terms,” AIFB state secretary Ashok Ghosh said.
Ghosh also thanked Banerjee for agreeing to observe Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose birth anniversary on Jan 23 as Desh Prem Divas. The previous Left Front Government had observed Desh Prem Divas last year.
Ghosh also requested the Banerjee government to follow all the customs observed by the previous government on the occasion.
“The chief minister should garland the statue of Netaji on Red Road and also address the people, the practice that has been followed in the previous years,” he said.
The Forward Bloc and the Left Front had earlier demanded that both the state and the central government should observe Netaji’s birthday as Desh Prem Divas throughout the country.
Left Front chairman Biman Bose Tuesday in a letter to Banerjee had thanked her for agreeing to celebrate the birthday of Netaji.
