Soldiers clash with policemen in Agra

Agra, Oct 13 (IANS) A group of soldiers from the Indian Army clashed with policemen and ransacked a police station here, an official said Monday.Senior Superintendent of Police Raghuvir Lal said three Para Brigade soldiers riding a motorcycle had an altercation with policemen in the Taj Ganj area Sunday evening after they were stopped for a routine check.

The soldiers were taken to the police station. Later, a group of soldiers in a truck came to the Taj Ganj police station and ransacked it.

Lal said the soldiers beat up some policemen but the issue was sorted out after army officials assured that action would be take against the guilty.

Col Kuljinder Singh of the Para Brigade said he had asked for details of the incident. He added that if the soldiers were found guilty, they would be punished.
