Sohrabuddin killing accused cop shifted out of jail
September 9th, 2010 - 11:11 pm ICT by IANSGandhinagar, Sep 9 (IANS) The Gujarat High Court Thursday ordered the transfer of suspended police officer N.K. Amin, an accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh staged shootout case, from a prison in Sabarmati to Vadodara jail.
The court ordered the transfer after counsel for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), K.T.S. Tulsi, apprehended that there was a danger to Amin’s life in Sabarmati jail.
Tulsi requested the court to shift Amin to any other jail.
Justice Jayant Patel, however, rejected the counsel’s plea to allow the CBI to record Amin’s confession.
The judge said that the matter had been referred to the high court by the designated CBI court seeking it’s opinion on the constitutional validity of Amin’s plea Sep 15.
However, after Tulsi’s submissions regarding urgency of the case, the court ordered it to be listed Sep 14.
The CBI had moved an application before the designated court seeking tightening of Amin’s security after his wife wrote expressing concern about her husband’s security in jail.
This was a sequel to a sensational revelation by Shakeel Sheikh alias Teja before a court in Vadodara that he was offered Rs.10 lakh by the jail authorities to kill Amin, who has proposed to become an approver in the triple murder case involving Sohrabuddin, his wife Kauserbi and Tulsiram Prajapati.
Teja claimed that he was badly beaten up when he turned down the offer.
