Skoda launches Rapid sedan
November 16th, 2011 - 10:21 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 16 (IANS) Car manufacturer Škoda Auto Wednesday launched its first c-segment sedan Rapid priced at Rs.6.75 lakhs (ex-showroom New Delhi).
“We intend to strengthen our presence in the highly competitive C segment in the country with this launch,” said Thomas Kuehl, board member and director, sales and marketing, ŠKODA Auto India.
According to Kuehl, the company expected the car to become a key brand to drive sales.
“Our plans for the Rapid in India are fairly ambitious, given that we expect it to become the bestselling car in our model line-up in India, in the near future,” Kuehl said.
Kuehl said the car completes the company’s current portfolio. “It fills the gap between Škoda Fabia and the current Laura,” Kuehl said.
The car will be produced at the company’s Chakan plant in Pune.
“The Rapid is positioned as a family car, compact enough for the city and spacious enough for longer trips,” Kuelh said.
