Bhuaneswar, Oct 10 (IANS) Orissa Police Monday released the sketch of one of the suspected assailants who allegedly killed ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) legislator Jagabandhu Majhi last month.

The criminal investigation department of the state police has released the sketch on the basis of the description given by witnesses, a senior police official, who did not want to be named, told IANS.

The official said the public have been requested to share information about the person and his whereabouts with the crime branch.

The handicapped 39-year-old legislator from Umarkot constituency and his personal security officer were shot dead by unidentified men in the Maoist-affected Nabrangpur district Sept 24.

Majhi was killed while he was distributing land ownership papers to poor tribal residents at a public function at Gona village in the district, over 500 km from Bhubaneswar.

The legislator was disabled and confined to a wheel chair after he was injured when fired at by some unidentified assailants several years ago.
