Six pilgrims killed in Madhya Pradesh accident
October 22nd, 2009 - 3:23 pm ICT by IANSBhopal, Oct 22 (IANS) Six pilgrims were killed and eight others critically injured when the Bolero sports utility vehicle they were travelling in collided with a tanker coming from the opposite side in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district, police said.
The accident took place early Thursday morning when the vehicle carrying the Patel family of Damoh district and others was proceeding towards Mahar Devi temple in Satna and a speeding petrol tanker coming from opposite side ht it while negotiating a blind turn, said a police official from Satna, 486 km from here.
The Bolero was wrecked in the collision. The eight injured people were taken to Katni district hospital. The tanker has been seized though its driver escaped, police said.
