Six-month-old girl abandoned in train
February 2nd, 2012 - 12:45 am ICT by IANSKolkata, Feb 1 (IANS) A six-month-old girl was found abandoned in a train heading to Kolkata, police said Wednesday.
The girl was found by passengers travelling in a second class sleeper coach of the Howrah-bound Toofan Express as the train was passing through Jharkhand.
The passengers, however, realised that the baby was abandoned only after the train reached Chittaranjan in West Bengal.
They informed the travelling ticket examiner and the baby was handed over to the Governemnt Railway police after the train halted at the Asansol Railway station.
The girl has now been admitted at the Assansol Sub-Divisional Hospital.
