Rajiv Arora, 26, Sumit Arora, 23, Aman Kumar, 26, Ashish Upadhyay, 26, Ankit Tandon, 27, and Yogesh Kumar Sharma, 30, were arrested from various parts of Delhi between Tuesday and Wednesday, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma.
They were held following a complaint filed by Kamal Yadav, a resident of Mehrauli in south Delhi.
Yadav told police that he was cheated of around Rs.25,000 by some people who offered him new credit card.
Police first arrested Rajiv and Sumit Tuesday from Paschim Vihar and Rohini in north Delhi, respectively
Their associates Ankit, Yogesh, Aman and Ashish were subsequently arrested from south Delhi Wednesday.
They told police that Sumit and Aman were sacked employees of reputed private banks and were well aware of the banking work.
They used to procure booklets of driving licence of Patna Transport Department from stationery shops and prepare fake stamps and forged driving licences on fake names and addresses by affixing their own photographs.
On the basis of these driving licenses, they used to manage to take rented accommodations in Delhi and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited land line phone connections and permanent account number cards and credit cards.
Through tele-calling, they used to collect documents of victims on the pretext of providing new credit cards to be issued free of cost or to give loan on lower interest rates. They used the documents to get credit cards issued and misused the plastic money.
Sumit has also created a blog in the name of Male Escort Agency. On the pretext of giving placement in gigolo club, he demanded membership fees from the interested people and got it deposited in their fake accounts.
“So far 35 fake accounts opened in different banks have been identified in their name,” Sharma said.
