Six Maoists killed in Bihar gunfight
March 14th, 2011 - 2:36 pm ICT by IANSPatna, March 14 (IANS) At least six Maoists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Bihar’s East Champaran district early Monday, police said. Ten rebels were also arrested and a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the site.
The incident took place near Darmaha village, some 200 km from here.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined force of local police and central paramilitary forces surrounded the rebels and fired at them, a district police officer said.
Four policemen were also injured and have been admitted to a hospital, he added.
Police have recovered 1,000 live cartridges, 5 SLR rifles and 8 rifles.
