Six killed when bus topples into canal in Maharashtra
November 23rd, 2008 - 6:47 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Ahmednagar (Maharashtra), Nov 23 (IANS) Six people died and over 20 were injured in a road accident near Akole Sunday when a crowded passenger bus toppled into a canal, police said.The dead, two men and four women, and the injured were among 60 passengers of a bus from Ghatkopar, a Mumbai suburb, to Akole, 125 km from here, to attend a marriage ceremony.
The accident took place when the bus dashed against a bridge-railing at Pulachi Wadi, a village near Akole and fell in a canal below.
Four seriously injured were rushed to the civil hospital in Nashik and the rest in the district hospital here, the Ahmednagar control room police told IANS.
