Gurgaon, July 30 (IANS) Six people were killed and one was injured when the car they were travelling in rammed into a truck on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, police said Wednesday. The accident took place at 10.45 p.m. Tuesday when the speeding Maruti Baleno drove into the heavy vehicle at the Rajiv Chowk flyover on the expressway, a police official said.
Ajay Kumar, the lone survivor, said the car was being driven by a man named Bhagat Singh, who was drunk. Ajay, a construction worker, said that he had fallen asleep and therefore did not know how the crash took place.
He added that all those who died in the accident were construction workers like him and were being taken to a construction site in Delhi by a contractor. Ajay, who has suffered major injuries, regained consciousness only after he was admitted to a hospital, the police official said.
According to the police, the accident victims have been identified as Prem Pal and Harichand from Uttar Pradesh, and Fakir, Mahender Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Bhagat Singh from Delhi. The workers lived in Gurgaon near Khandsa village.
