Six killed as crackers explode in vehicle
March 12th, 2010 - 11:14 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, March 12 (IANS) At least six people were killed and four injured Friday when crackers laden in their vehicle exploded in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district, police said.
The mishap took place in Kurawali town of Mainpuri, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“The explosion was so intense that six people died on the spot,” district police chief D.K. Rai told reporters in Mainpuri.
“The four injured are being treated in a hospital, where the condition of all of them is reported critical,” he added.
According to police, the Matadoor laden with crackers collided with a truck just before the explosion.
