Six held with 72 kg drugs in Delhi

New Delhi, March 4 (IANS) Four people were arrested with 27 kg of opium from New Delhi Railway Station while two others were held with 45 kg of marijuana near Delhi-Haryana border, the police said Tuesday. Four people were arrested with 27 kg of opium during patrolling by the Delhi Police. All the four are rickshaw pullers in west Delhi and hail from Bihar.

During the investigation, they said they carried opium from Mughal Sarai and were planning to sell it here. The police have registered a case for violation of the narcotics drugs law.

In the other case, narcotics branch of Delhi Police arrested two inter-state drug traffickers and recovered 45 kg of marijuana from them.

This was the biggest ever recovery of marijuana in a single case by the narcotics branch.

The police held the two people from Haryana at Rohtak road in central Delhi where they had come to deliver the marijuana consignment. Both said they joined this trade a year back.

According to the police, the value of the recovered drugs in the international market is about Rs.22.5 million.
