Six dead as boat capsizes in Uttar Pradesh
May 28th, 2011 - 2:34 pm ICT by IANSJhansi (Uttar Pradesh), May 28 (IANS) At least six people drowned after the boat ferrying them capsized in a river here Saturday, police said.
The accident occurred in Betwan river in Poonch town.
“We are yet to ascertain the total number of people who were present in the boat. Till now, six deaths have been confirmed,” Superintendent of Police (rural) P.K. Tiwari told IANS on phone.
“Rescue operations are underway. We are yet to establish the identity of the victims,” added Tiwari.
