Singer Ishmeet’s family to go to Maldives for private probe

Ludhiana, Sep 2 (IANS) Family members of ‘Voice of India’ reality singing contest winner Ishmeet Singh will fly to the Indian Ocean island-country Maldives Wednesday to hold a private probe into his death due to drowning at a beach resort there July 29.Family members said Tuesday, which was Ishmeet’s birth anniversary, that the singer’s father Gurpinder Singh, uncle Charan Kamal Singh and another relative will fly to Male, the capital of Maldives, to independently probe the cause of his death.

The 19-year-old singer’s family has been seeking a thorough probe into his mysterious death in the beach resort where he had gone for a concert.

The family has been urging the central and the Punjab governments to order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into his death.

The family Tuesday observed a small function at their residence here in the memory of the singer.

His family has still not ruled out foul play in his death even though the post-mortem examination and forensic laboratory reports said that he died of drowning. His family claimed that his body had injury marks on the head and chest.
