Shootout outside Punjab court, 2 injured

Bathinda (Punjab), April 22 (IANS) Two youths were injured in a gunfight between two rival groups outside a court complex in this Punjab city Friday, police said.

According to the police, members of Bhatti gang and Prince gang were involved in the clash that also involved exchange of fire.

“Prince, a gangster, was released on bail Thursday. He and his gang members were attacked by the members of Bhatti gang Friday. There is some old rivalry between the two groups,” said a police official here.

“Two members of Prince gang, Vikas Kaushal and Rohit, were injured in the clash. Vikas sustained bullet injuries on his arm and face whereas Rohit sustained serious head injuries, inflicted by sharp-edged weapons. The accused fled away in a car,” he added.

Police have registered a case and started investigations. They are also examining footage of a CCTV camera installed outside the entrance of the court complex.
