Shocked over husband’s death, wife commits suicide (Lead)
February 8th, 2010 - 10:47 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Feb 8 (IANS) A 32-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of her house in Paschim Vihar in west Delhi after seeing the body of her husband killed in an accident, police said Monday.
The tragedy took place Saturday when Veena saw the body of Ajay, who died earlier that day after a speeding van rammed into his motorcycle from behind near Nihar Vihar area.
“Ajay was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead,” a police officer said.
“When his body was taken home, Veena fell unconscious. When she regained consciousness, she went to the second floor and jumped from it. She was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries on the way,” he added.
Veena and Ajay were from Rohtak in Haryana and lived with their seven-year-old son Abhishek. Both worked with private companies. The bodies have been handed over to their family.
