Shanghai to install sprinklers in city
May 14th, 2011 - 5:42 pm ICT by IANSShanghai, May 14 (IANS) Shanghai plans to install water sprinklers at tourist attractions across the city to keep crowds cool during the sizzling months ahead.
A local sightseeing management office said the sprinklers to be installed at the city’s leisure spots would emit a fine mist.
A water sprinkling system was used at last year’s World Expo to keep the crowds cool, the Shanghai Daily reported.
Officials said they were considering designs that could easily be dismantled without damaging the attractions.
Authorities at Yuyuan Garden, a popular tourist site, said they will expand the use of sprinklers this season after a system with more than 500 nozzles used last year received positive feedback.
