Several workers trapped as Jalandhar building collapses
April 16th, 2012 - 8:38 am ICT by IANSJalandhar, April 16 (IANS) Several workers were feared trapped after a three-storyed factory building collapsed in Punjab’s Jalandhar city, 150 km from state capital Chandigarh.
Over 70 workers were inside the blanket factory when it collapsed.
The building collapsed following a blast in the factory’s boiler around midnight Sunday, said police.
Rescue teams of the district administration were trying to rescue the trapped workers.
A senior district official said that over 40 workers had been rescued till Monday morning. Many of them had injuries.
