Seven people killed in Himachal accident

Shimla, May 1 (IANS) Seven people were killed and 20 injured Friday when a privately-owned bus rolled down a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district as the bus driver was talking on the phone while driving, officials said.
“Seven people, including two women, were killed when a private mini-bus rolled down a 200-foot gorge at Maryog village near Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry in Solan district,” Deputy Commissioner Amandeep Garg told IANS by phone.

“The dead included the bus driver.”

He said injured passengers told the police that the driver was talking on the mobile phone when the accident occurred.

According to Garg, five people died on the spot and two others succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital.

In another accident, five people were killed in Kangra district when their car fell into a gorge.

“Five people were killed when their car rolled down a gorge near Nandrul village in Kangra district this (Friday) afternoon,” Superintendent of Police Atul Kumar Fulzele said.
