Seven killed, 12 injured in Orissa road accident
January 25th, 2010 - 3:31 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Jan 25 (IANS) Seven people were killed and 12 seriously injured Monday when a vehicle carrying them collided with a truck in Orissa’s Bolangir district, an official said.
The vehicle was carrying elderly patients to hospital to for cataract operations when it hit a gas-loaded truck coming from the opposite direction in Kandagada, some 20 km from the district headquarters.
“Five people died on the spot and two died on their way to the hospital. Twelve people have been injured and four are in critical condition. We are trying to shift them to VSS Medical College of Burla,” said P.C. Sahu, chief medical officer of Bolangir.
The victims were from Mermunda and other villages of the district, the official said.
