Hyderabad, April 27 (IANS) Seven workers of a chemical factory were injured, four of them seriously, when a huge fire broke out after an explosion in Hyderabad Sunday. Police said the fire broke out in sodium methoxide plant of Series Pharmaceuticals in L.B. Nagar neighbourhood. The injured were rushed to hospital.
The factory was shut five years ago but residents of the area said the management was illegally operating a part of it. About 60 workers were working in the plant.
The fire broke out after a sodium methoxide cylinder exploded. The entire complex was engulfed in flames, leaping to a height of about 20 feet. Several fire tenders had a tough time in extinguishing the fire.
The smoke spread in the adjoining residential areas and spread panic among people.
