New Delhi, June 6 (IANS) Seven people, including a doctor, were arrested for tampering with the answer sheets in the entrance test for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) post-graduate courses and all India pre-veterinary exam, a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official said Monday.

“The CBI has arrested seven people, including the kingpin Mahipal Singh, for manipulating the exam. Singh was arrested from Delhi. They were presented before the city court and were remanded in CBI custody,” said an official.

Exams to AIIMS post-graduate courses were held May 8 and all India pre-veterinary test May 5.

The CBI official said that a private firm was given the contract for manufacturing and scanning of optical mark recognition (OMR) answer sheets for both the exams.

Singh would print duplicate OMR sheets bearing the same bar codes of select candidates and replaced the originals to get them favourable result, the official said.

Singh is a radiologist and did his post-graduation from the AIIMS.
