Seven Delhi residents killed in accident in Himachal (Lead)
January 12th, 2010 - 5:13 pm ICT by IANSShimla, Jan 12 (IANS) Seven people from Delhi were killed and two more critically injured in a road accident in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh Tuesday morning, a police official said.
The accident occurred when an SUV with nine people hit a bridge and skidded into a gorge at Dadhol village near Ghumarwin in the district, about 110 km from state capital Shimla, at 12.20 a.m. Tuesday, police superintendent (Bilaspur) Kuldeep Sharma told IANS.
He said six people died instantly while one of the three critically injured, died at the Bilaspur district hospital.
They were on their way to the Hindu shrine of Jwalamukhi in Kangra district.
“Most of the victims, all residents of Delhi, were in the age group of 20 to 30,” a police officer added.
“Prima facie, it seems to be a case of rash and negligent driving,” the police officer said.
