Serial killer arrested in Ahmedabad
March 5th, 2011 - 12:54 am ICT by IANSAhmedabad, March 4 (IANS) The chance questioning of a man driving an auto-rickshaw has led to the arrest of a serial killer who has murdered four people in Ahmedabad for paltry sums of money, police said Friday.
“Yasin Khan alias Sando alias Lambu Ibrahim Khan, 30 was driving an auto-rickshaw when he was stopped by a constable for a routine check on Tuesday. The policeman got suspicious when he found a driving licence in the name of Jaswant Singh in Khan’s possession,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Himanshu Shukla.
Taken to the crime branch headquarters and questioned, Khan admitted to having hired the auto-rickshaw, taken it to a point outside the city and killed the driver.
The decayed body has been recovered and identified by the victim’s father.
Khan has also confessed to having throttled a beggar identified as Saladia here five months ago to loot the paltry sum in his possession. About a fortnight ago, he had strangled a man with his own muffler at the same spot and took the Rs.300 found on him.
Khan also admitted that almost an year earlier, he had strangled his mistress, Reshma, after suspecting she was having an affair and dumped the body in the Sabarmati river, police said adding investigations were in progress.
