Senior Goa cop’s son may be held in accident case
January 15th, 2010 - 4:25 pm ICT by IANS ( 1 comment )Panaji, Jan 15 (IANS) The son of Goa’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) K.D. Singh may be arrested for his alleged involvement in a road accident here, a top police official said Friday.
“The case is under investigation. If required, we will be arresting him. A charge sheet will also be filed,” state Director General of Police Bhimsain Bassi told reporters at a press conference at the police headquarters here.
Singh’s son Siddhartha (18) was driving his father’s official vehicle to a popular nightclub at Vasco, 35 km from here, when the Toyota Innova crashed into an electric pole in the wee hours of Dec 5, last year.
State Power Minister Aleixo Sequeira’s son Antonio and a leading industrialist’s son were also present in the car at the time of the accident.
“One of the major issues of concern is the repair of the car, which we are working on,” Bassi said.
Coincidentally, the police sub inspector who was investigating the accident was promoted to the rank of police inspector despite serious lapses while conducting enquiries into the accident, which includes not administering the IGP’s son an alcohol test.
After initially stating that IGP Singh would be questioned as part of the departmental enquiry into the accident, a police spokesperson later said there was no question of the IGP being probed.

An so be it-he will get away scott free, like all the sons and daughters of our corrupt ministers who have been allegedly involved in such crimes whether of passion or something else.
