Security up for Taj during Commonwealth Games
December 15th, 2009 - 9:49 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) Security for the Taj Mahal and its surrounding areas will be beefed up for the Commonwealth Games next year, Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran told the Lok Sabha Tuesday.
“The Uttar Pradesh Police has been sensitized on the need to augment security arrangements around the Taj Mahal,” said Ramachandran.
“Also the Haryana government has been advised to make adequate security arrangements along the National Highways to ensure the safety and security of tourists during their visits to Agra during the Commonwealth Games-2010,” he added.
The minister also pointed out that a mechanism was in place to review the security arrangements in the national capital region (NCR) as a whole.
