Security stepped up at Delhi High Court
September 8th, 2011 - 9:23 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 8 (IANS) A day after a bomb blast claimed 12 lives at the Delhi High Court, security at all the entry gates of the court complex was beefed up Thursday.
Only those lawyers who were carrying identity cards issued by the court were allowed to enter the complex.
Litigants who assembled at the court’s entry gates were frisked by the security personnel and the entry passes and I-cards checked.
“I was not allowed to enter the court premises as I did not have the documents. Despite my making a phone call to a lawyer inside the complex and making him talk to the security personnel, they didn’t let me in,” said a senior lawyer’s assistant.
The Delhi government offered to install 49 CCTVs at the high court. Government’s chief standing counsel Nazmi Waziri said: “We are offering them 49 CCTVs. If they agree to it then we will install them within two weeks.”
The security was also stepped up at the district court complexes in the city where police men could be seen frisking visitors.
