Security scaled up in Gujarat
September 9th, 2011 - 11:55 pm ICT by IANSGandhinagar, Sep 9 (IANS) A high alert was ordered in Gujarat Friday after an email taking responsibility for the Delhi High Court blast, warned of Ahmedabad being the next terror target.
Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Sudhir Sinha said Friday that security has been strengthened in the city and additional force mobilised to face any eventuality.
“A full check of all hotels, guest houses and other places in the city as well as the highways is underway. Besides vehicles entering the city are being checked,” Sinha added.
Gujarat’s acting Director General of Police Chittaranajan Singh said that though the IP address of the email, which originated from an Yahoo account, is that of Moscow, it seems a mask to hide the real identity of the sender.
“We have also approached Yahoo for help,” he added.
