Security personnel injured in mine blast by Maoists
April 2nd, 2010 - 2:48 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, April 2 (IANS) A security personnel was injured when a claymore mine suspected to have been laid by Maoists near a culvert in Orissa’s Koraput district exploded Friday, police said.
The claymore mine went off when two state security personnel came to bathe in the culvert in a forested area near Maoist-infested Narayanpatna town, around 500 km from here, Deputy Inspector General of Police Sanjeeb Panda told IANS.
“One of them has sustained injury in his leg,” he said.
The blast came at a time when a joint operation against Maoists by state and central forces is underway in the region, according to police sources.
