Security forces battle militants in Sopore gunfight
February 21st, 2012 - 5:11 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, Feb 21 (IANS) A gunfight broke out between militants and security forces Tuesday afternoon in north Kashmir’s Sopore town, police said.
Sopore’s Superintendent of Police Syed Imtiaz Hussain told IANS: “Security forces surrounded a house in the Sopore Bypass Road area after getting information about the presence of guerrillas there.”
Reports from the area said that exchange of gunfire was going on between the militants and security forces.
