Security beefed up in Uttar Pradesh for Barawafat festival
February 15th, 2011 - 10:29 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Feb 15 (IANS) Security has been beefed up across Uttar Pradesh in view of Barawafat, the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad on Wednesday, police said Tuesday.”As many as 40 additional companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary and 12 companies of Rapid Action Force have been spread across the communally sensitive districts of Aligarh, Moradabad, Meerut, Bareilly, Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi and Mau,” Special Director General of Police Brijlal said.
“Special security arrangements have been made in Lucknow in view of its history of major sectarian clashes between Shia and Sunni Muslims,” he added.
