Security beefed up in Uttar Pradesh ahead of Eid
August 31st, 2011 - 12:27 am ICT by IANSLucknow, Aug 30 (IANS) Heavy security arrangements have been made across Uttar Pradesh ahead of Eid ul-Fitr - the festival marking the end of the fasting month of Ramzan - to be celebrated across India Wednesday, police said Tuesday.
Special Director General of Police (law and order) Brij Lal here told reporters: “As many as 44 companies of the provincial armed constabulary (PAC), 10 companies of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), six comapnies of Rapid Response Force (RRF) have been deployed across the state along with police and other paramilitary forces.”
“For sensitive districts like Lucknow, Allahabad, Bahraich, Bareilly, Aligarh, Moradabad and Meerut, 18 companies of PAC have also been reserved,” he added.
