Secured communication network for Commonwealth Games
October 26th, 2009 - 7:17 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Oct 26 (IANS) The Delhi government Monday approved setting up of a secured communication network for 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG) at a cost of Rs.one crore (Rs.10 million).
“The cabinet has given its nod to a proposal for setting up of a Secured Communication Network (TETRA) for CWG,” an official statement cited Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as saying.
“The important benefits will be ultimate security, seamless service, superior coverage, shared network without interfering with any existing agency-specific networks, scalability and specialisation,” the statement said.
The network will cost around Rs.one crore (Rs.10 million) and it will be shared between the beneficiary agencies - Commonwealth Games Secretariat, Delhi government, Delhi Police, Delhi Development Authority, Delhi Jal Board, New Delhi Municipal Council, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, and others - as per their relative strength of system users, the statement added.
