Scot caught with hashish
May 24th, 2009 - 3:26 pm ICT by IANSPanaji, May 24 (IANS) A Scottish national has been arrested here for possessing 2.5 kg of hashish, police said Sunday.
James Joseph Toner, 44, was arrested by the anti-narcotics police from Chapora, a village adjoining the Anjuna beach, late Saturday evening. He had contraband worth Rs.250,000.
A police officer said Toner was residing in a rented flat near Colva beach in South Goa for several months and had driven to Chapora to dispose of the retail consignment of drugs to a foreigner client when he was nabbed.
Several foreigners have been selling small quantities of drugs to foreign clients to fund their vacation in the tropical holiday destination.
